Halloween is upon us, and the Library has three, free, fun events this October for all ages.
Don’t miss Pumpkin Bash: A Children’s Book Festival from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. October 19 at the Main Branch Library. Kids can mix and mingle with authors, play games, munch on snacks, compete in a costume contest, and even win a free book (while supplies last). Plus, Pete the Cat and Llama Llama will make a special appearance! Meet many local children’s authors along the way.
Teens will have an undead ball at Zombie Prom, a night of dancing, costumes, and fun. There will be music from a DJ, snacks, games, and a photo booth from 7-10 p.m. October 26 at the West Monroe Branch Library. Wear your best zombie outfit or Halloween costume, and see who will be crowned Zombie Prom King and Queen. Or, get your zombie makeup done by a makeup artist at the event. Get your tickets at any branch before they’re gone!
Walk the graves of local legends at the Monroe Old City Cemetery Walking Tour. Library Genealogist Lora Peppers will share stories of the people buried there, from important leaders to community outcasts. Meet at 10 a.m. October 26 at Mayor Andrew Forsythe’s grave, near the cemetery’s Desiard Street entrance, to partake in this spooky tour.
